Beating Self-Sabotage

Have you ever noticed that every time the relationship starts to get serious you find a reason to end it? Or every time there is an opportunity for the promotion you talk yourself out of pursuing it because you think there is probably someone else more qualified? Whenever there is a risk to be taken you play it safe. This is self sabotage.

Saboteurs start out as a sort of coping mechanism to help you survive the real and imagined threats to your physical and emotional survival as a child. By the time you are an adult, you don’t need them anymore but they are now living rent free in your head, and they don’t mind speaking their mind.

There are a total of 9 saboteurs. I cover them in detail in the video below. I encourage to watch or listen to the Mind Your Business Podcast to learn more about them. Below, I am going to share three simple ways to turn your saboteurs into strengths, but in order to do so you need full knowledge of the 9 saboteurs and how they operate.

1. Do It With Grace
Consider the effort that you are making, celebrate even the smallest victories, and forgive yourself when things don’t go as planned. This is giving yourself grace.

2. Do It With Grit
You will never grow or gain ground in your life if you aren’t willing to face yourself and overcome your weaknesses with a little grit. The goal is growth. But it’s going to take resilience, initiative, and tenacity.

3. Do It With Guidance
Cloth yourself in grace, equip yourself with grit, and gather those around you who can help you grow. In order to be better, you need guidance from others.

I want to see you succeed in every area of your life. I want your relationships to grow personally and professionally. I want you to get the promotion. I want you to start the project that your passion is calling you to. Start today. Don't let these saboteurs stop you!
