35 “Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning,36 as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. Luke 12:35-36 (NLT)

I can remember when I was a kid my mom always saying “Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” I bet you can think in this very moment of several things you had planned to do today but decided to wait. We spend a lot of time throughout our life simply waiting. Some studies say that we actually spend 2.5 years of our life just waiting in lines. That is a lot of time wasted. But what about today? How much time are you wasting?

Scripture tells us that our lives are fleeting (Psalm 144:4), our time on this earth is short. We have to make the most of each day and live life on purpose. I encourage you today to make the most of it. Don’t make excuses, make an impact. It could be something you say, something you do, or something you give. Think of others before you think of yourself. Take a moment to smile, say hello, and listen. People matter. Treat those around you as though they do.

So why put off tomorrow what you can do today? Make a difference.

What are you waiting for?
