As we begin a new year most of us don’t plan to end up at the wrong destination. However, most of us don’t plan to end up at the right destination either. Good intentions won’t get us to our desired destination. It is our daily decisions that get us where we want to go. This year I want to encourage you to commit to good decisions. If you want life to change, you have to change. If you want things to be better, you have to be better. Remember, change is inevitable but progress is optional.
I think there are three simple ways to get yourself started this year.
1. Know where you are – Every GPS has to have a starting location. Be honest with yourself about where you are and give yourself permission to begin where you are. Everyone starts somewhere.
2. Know where you are going – Everyone needs a goal, a dream, and a vision. Without those elements you aren’t living, you’re just existing. Who do you want to be? What do you want to do? Plan some steps, make some deadlines, and live on schedule. You’ll get there eventually.
3. Know Who you are taking – Not everyone will take the journey with you, and not everyone needs to. Take inventory of those in your life and make sure you have positive people traveling with you. You will never get to where you want to be on your own. Everyone needs someone. We are better together.
